Star Wars Artist Brian Rood Joins TK Project

With the addition of Star Wars artist Brian Rood, TK Project coordinator Chris TB-111 reports that he is now officially out of helmets. Each blank Stormtrooper helmet donated by eFX Collectibles has been shipped out to an artist or celebrity to be creatively customized and returned to the 501st. Plans are being made to auction the nearly 50 one-of-a-kind helmets at Star Wars Celebration V in August 2010, with proceeds going to Make-A-Wish. 501st, R2-KT and Chewie are "Go" for Launch!

As the current NASA Space Shuttle program comes to an close, there's no better way to commemorate one of the final flights than with a contingent of 501st Stormtroopers, the pink astromech R2-KT and Chewbacca himself (Star Wars actor Peter Mayhew). On March 18, 2010, STS-131 will launch from Florida's Kennedy Space Center carrying a photo of Mayhew as well as a Katie Johnson trading card to create awareness of pediatric cancer and the Legion's philanthropic causes. More specific information will be released as we approach the launch date. Let the countdown begin to another huge milestone in the history of Star Wars fandom!

Redback Garrison is Go!

The 501st Terror Australis Garrison's Redback Squad---initially formed in 2007---has now been approved for Garrison status, having met the minimum member requirement and received Legion Council approval. Representing the 501st in Queensland, Australia, the members of the Redback Garrison have distinguished themselves at many local events, such as the Bridge to Brisbane, MS Moonwalk and pop culture events like Gencon and Supanova. The TK Project Moves into 2010

2010 is the year that nearly 50 artistically-customized Stormtrooper helmets donated by eFX Collectibles will be displayed at Star Wars Celebration V, and then auctioned to support Make-A-Wish Foundation. The latest completed helmet, an homage to the 1954 sci-fi horror classic "The Creature from the Black Lagoon," comes from artist (and 501st member) Matt Busch (TK-3477). As this charity art project continues to gain momentum, Jeremy Bulloch (BH-5211) and Honorary Member Tory Belleci have also signed on to put their mark on a TK helmet.
