Italica Garrison Breaks Ground for Charity

Recently, the 501st Italica Garrison attended Romics (Rome's Festival of Comics and Animation) in force with a new multimedia stand including photo opportunities which raised funds for the Italian Red Cross Pioneers. The 501st was able to raise nearly $1800 USD to assist Rome's children's hospitals---a noteworthy accomplishment considering that this type of charity work is not necessarily commonplace in Italy. The 501st's Clone Emperor

501st member Thomas Spanos (SL-1876) is the Legion's first and only Expanded Universe Clone Emperor. His inspired scratch-built costume was used as reference by illustrator and 501st Honorary Member Joe Corroney in 2005 and has now been immortalized by artist Brian Rood on the packaging of Hasbro's new Dark Empire II Comic 2-pack.
